Aren´t you affraid the 55w bulbs would damage your angel eyes´ fiber optics? Are you using the 55w now in both, or stayed at the 35w? I have 35w 8 000k. I ordered 6 000k, but the dealer has sent incorrect bulbs. 8 000k are white in direct sunlight, but at night they are guite bluish. I like the looks of those 55w 5 000k. I would need new ballast to run those, or not? Does higher wattage require also some changes made on the harness or some other parts of the original 35w angel eyes HID conversion kit??? THX

And yes, he will damage his AE optics for sure using 55w set up. I guarantee it.

I am not afraid of fitting 55w bulbs because the only possible damage for optics is heat I don't think this 55w xenon bulb produce more heat than standard H8 55w halogen bulb.
I am using 55w 5000k in both I don't like 35w greenish tint. no modifications to harness just straight swap of bulbs and ballasts no damage so far I will update if there will be any

I don´t know how much heat produce 35w HIDs and how much do produce 55w HIDs. But I know that the 35w original halogens are very hot when they are switched on. So if those don´t cause harm to the optics, why the 35 or 55w HIDs should cuase harm? I see no reason, unless those 55w HIDs produce incomparably more heat.

This is so ignorant it's outrageous. All light produces a level of UV (please do your homework), and in addition to the heat, the UV will yellow the plastic fiber optic over time.
BMW actually is aware of this problem, and updated the AE design in the LCI 3 series headlights to include a glass piece to filter the UV. This obviously does not exist in the E60 LCI headlights.
Do as you will, but the wise would listen to my experiences.

question
But now i see you can upgrade using HID. My fear is to mess the fiber optics.
Do you have any pics of your car during the daylight?
thanks
