Hi,

My new BMW E60 LCI 535d has been remapped. The car definitely feels stronger and faster. I haven't been able to test the max speed yet. I am quite happy with the performance but I also asked them to put my car on the rolling road before and after chip-tuning. Before the chip, my car had around 285bhp and after, only 306bhp according to their dyno and 445 lbs/ft of torque. Car definitely feels quicker than before remapping and tuner said that it should gain more bhp after a good run-in. He said that the car is still very new (2500 miles so far) and needs to loosen up a bit more to unleash the hidden bhp. What you guys think about this? Have any of you had a similar experience?

Peter

Which company did the remap? I would have thought that at 2,500 miles there wouldn't be any more "loosening up" or "hidden bhp". I have a 535d on order and plan on having a DMS remap as soon as possible after the 1,200 mile break in period.

That what I was thinking after conversation with a few recommended chiptunners that 2000 miles would be OK but after conversation with the guy from ChippedUK he said that the car is still too new and that probably is the reason why it is not showing estimated gain. I was expecting something around 330-345bhp and around 500lb/ft of torque.

Maybe some other people with a remapped 535d can comment. Like I said I was planning on taking my new car to DMS for the remap after the 1,200 mile run in, but if that's too soon, I'd rather wait until the "correct" time, whenever that is.

Or, it may just be that the guy at chippedUK is trying to wiggle out of an unexpected situation. I'm looking forward to comments from other 535d remapped users on here.

I've heard good and bad things about ChippedUK, might be worth trying to get a refund then take it to DMS, I've heard nothing but good things about them, even if they do cost double.

The car definitely feels faster than before the chip but it's my first BMW and I haven't driven any other 535d so it is hard for me to judge. I have got mixed feelings because it feels faster but on the paper there is only 21 bhp more than before chip.
How much did anyone else gain after re-mapping? Please let me know.

Not had my DMS-d LCI 535d dyno'd but it definitely has more than 21 extra hp (and certainly feels like the quoted 334 total). The car has 2,100 miles on the clock.

Excuse me, what's the difference between a french/german 535d LCI and an english 535d LCI ?
A different engine step ?
What does that "(UK)" in the subject mean ?

It's the time you understand there are German, France, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom, Holland, Sweden, Denmark, etc.
Not Europe then england .
Or even england then Europe .

The same for who is ordering a new car : you are ordering a 530d like all other people in the world, your 5er won't have nothing special compared to others, so avoid to specify in the subject you are ordering a new car from UK .

Sorry for the clarification, but in last few days I am reading it in many subjects . While never seen a subject like "I'm from US, pls only americans help me with the configuration", although it's full of Americans here .

i had my remap done around 3200 miles, so im not sure how many KMS that is but, it was after the run in period of 1000-1200 miles.

I dont think getting a remap damages the engine, however i did hear that the turbo might get done after about 70-80,000 miles hard use, only a rumour, could it be true?

Over the years I have heard a few of those here on the forum. In simple terms, I would say that reliability in this case is inversely proportional to the amount of boost you "tweak".
