Always make shure that you have latest updates
. And try check engine oil level and oil temperature with ISTA.

Hi everyone,

Sorry if this is not the topic where to ask this question, but it's related to the E60 CIC retrofit. I am planning in the next few months to upgrade from CCC to CIC with a combox, do you think it will be able to also add the Rear Monitors from the F series and make them work at least to show what you are broadcasting from the CIC unit as on the F series, no IR remote, no extra DVD changer.

A setup containing only the rear DVD and the screens.

I found some information on the Wiring Diagrams but I'm quite new at this and just wanted some professional opinion.

Thank you!

You have to check E series wiring diagram too. For comparison.
I think its possible if E series will recognize F deries hardware if no, this is the end. Then you have to find all retrofit from E series.

@Bmwpower530 where do I check this in ISTA?
I have read that the sensor also reads the oil temperature, and if that element has failed it will not read the oil level

And as for the updating part can I not do it with a normal KDCAN cable?

Default Is the telematics box the combox?

Just “finished” my CIC retrofit. IDrive won’t boot.
just shows “BMW”, radio plays, it chimes and few times then restarts before ever getting any menus! I have everything except the usb port. What would cause this to happen? I’m starting to wonder if the box in my trunk near the amp needs to be replaced. I assume this was the combox? Am I wrong is this a completely different unit. I’m a little confused any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you 🙏

No Telematics is not the combox. You should check the part numbers and cross reference them with RealOem for the 3 series E90.

And that screen you are getting has nothing to do with the Telematics, it should load up to the normal screen. Have you coded it to your car?

Very similar to what my E70 CIC did when I first got it from EBay. Maps wouldn't install sometimes, music loaded onto hard drive would work, but some tracks would cause obvious read errors, Sometimes the thing would just go into a reboot cycle.

I ended up replacing the HDD with the automotive class mechanical PATA from my E60 (imaged the E60 to eventually restore it, managed to get an image from my E70 to put onto it); I tried using an ngff (m.2 sata, in a PATA enclosure - leveraging what was supposed to be a chipset that works in these units; It does seem that Marvell chipsets play much more consistently nice - spend the money on a marvell, if you're not going OEM; trust me). Could be the hard drive is done on it. Rebooting during load screams drive access issue.
