I just came across this thread while searching. I realize this thread is a bit old but I'm hoping I can find an answer.

I'm researching installing a front camera to avoid front bumper damage.

qurtrn10...how do you activate the camera?

I'm also very interested in doing this work on my e61, with having a deep front splitter I am continually concerned about smashing it on a kerb stone or steep angle.
What are the options and cost for a front and rear acing camera set up?

To activate, I just press and hold the menu button below the shifter (about 2 seconds). When I'm done, just press menu again and it goes back to the original screen.
As for price, I really don't remember. Check out ModMyNav.com - that's where mine came from.

Thanks for the information. It's helpful. Do you recall the cost of the unit?
It looks likes it fairly easy to operate and possibly install, did you do yours?

hello I have 2010 e60, trying to install my rear view camera too... how did you guys wire the camera to the interface unit? I located my interface unit behind the glove compartment of passenger side(where the fuses are)..
I need to know how the camera cable went through from trunk to back seat area.
Is there a gap or space between back seats and trunk area?
Thank you in advance.
