I've now got the Operation Instructions and the Installation Instructions in English available.

Nice find, please keep us updated on this. Either way it is going to be stupid expensive!
Thank you very much for posting these up.
Man, it's $500 for this piece + front/back-cam ($1500)+DVD player($100)+installation ($500) =~ amost $3K
Part number is not available on US dealer system as yet. Does any one can get a quote and part availability in either Europe or US?

No worries....why would you need to use the overly priced BMW cams at $1500, I did a cam install on my E39, cost me total of ?55 ($100ish). I'm going to try and get hold of one of these modules and give it a go.

No need for dealer installation really, coding isn't required according to the manual, as long as you have recent software.

I think the whole project can be done for about ?400 ($600) if you get the right parts....time will tell.

Here's what it says on page 6 of the manual:
The TV picture is only displayed up to a speed
of about 6 km/h or when the parking brake is
applied. The Control Display shows FOR
YOUR SAFETY TV/VIDEO NOT WHEN
DRIVING when the TV picture is blanked out.
It looks like they're on the right track with the "vital signs" screen -- this is something we predicted would come someday -- I think it should be added to the "base" iDrive system that we all have. Why does it need to be available only with this type of video interface?

I have a question.

I have a buisiness navigation. so could I watch TV or DVD using this part? no further hardware changes required?

Yes, works on all radios and nav systems.

I don?t have this - I have the usual e60 interface.

And nobody has to add cams to it. It?s only a possibility as at the usual interfaces. You also can put a normal dvd player on it, but then without idrive of course. My point was that the interface is (in germany) much cheeper than those dangerous third party interfaces, it?s original and cheeper.

One thing; in germany it is not allwoed to watch tv during driving. So it is locked while moving.

so there is a possibility of unlocking it?

and watching TV doesn't require more pixels? as we know, buisiness navigation monitor pixels are less than professional navigation one??

If i ask my dealer to install it for me, they will charge me too much?
