Hey john, you think it would really help? since the air is going to the same airbox, wouldnt' the filter kind of negate the second flow / pipe? Just curious. Still cool mod though.
This is Dinan's stuff:
For a fraction of the price, I made 3 inch piping AND upgrading to either Dinan stage 2 or 3 AND RPI passenger scoop. Can't beat that!

No pre-dyno. I dont plan on spending $300 on a dyno just to see results. Maybe when someone has a special. I'll spend $100 to see what the dyno is. Or mebbe I'll buy the G-tech things or whatever u call it and see.
Sure thing. It's easy. And it's roomier in the 3.0 engine.
Thanks for the compliment. Miguex helped me a lot with it. He provided me with lots of guidance. But boy, everything was so tight fit.
#20 is the intake duct you need. I'm still waiting for my passenger scoop from RPI/Trinity to complete everything. Then hop over to Dinan
I wasn't going to do a DIY since last time Miguex did it, he was bashed up pretty bad. LOL. But it's simple. Drill a 3" hole in the air box and plug and play everything together
It's almost the same exact thing as the Dinan intake for the 545i. Dinan uses 2 inch piping while I use 3 inch piping. I am pretty sure that extra inch of diameter will give me more airflow.

I finally did it! I went to home depot and couldnt find anything I want. Then I decided, wth, i'll try autozone and to my surprise, I found what I wanted. Pix up when Joe ships me to passenger scoop =P. I managed to use 3" piping instead of 2" from Dinan. First gear and second gear pull is nicer now. Didnt get a chance to go on the highway yet. I'll be getting either Dinan Stage 2 or Stage 3 Remaps. Here's what I used and prices:
M5 passenger Duct from Garry - $35
3" Flexible hoses from autozone need 2 of them - $20 each = $40
3" Coupler from autozone - $7
3" Intake Adaptor from autozone - $6
Few nuts and bolts and washers to mount intake adaptor - $2
Total = $90
Optional:
RPI Passenger Scoop (Contact Joe or Nerweezy) - $100
Dinan Stage 2 - Contact ur local authorized Dinan dealer
I also had to buy a 3" drill thing from home depot. The 3" drill head and adaptor is needed and costs about $30.
So basically for about $300 more, I can get the Dinan-like intake with 3" piping instead of 2" AND also get a scoop AND also upgrade to Dinan stage 2. I cant wait to see how it performs in the poconos meet.
Thanks so much to Miguex for his guidance! Could not have done it without you

Good work, John!
And now, some criticism: dude, those plastic ducts do not belong under your hood. I think you should invest and have some better piping custom-made - I know of at least one muffler shop that would definitely get it done for you on the cheap out by Shea Stadium, but I'm sure you know a place. Other than that, great mod bro!
PS I'm still pissed at you for not coming to the meet, but whatever

Come to the poconos meet. I gotta take it up the highway and try.
I had to find what is readily available without taking crazy measurements. Maybe I'll use some heat wrap next summer. I am done for this summer with mods.
PS: I'll be seeing u at the poconos meet =P

hahaha. did u wrap anything in CF yet?
That tubing is especially made for intakes. It can withstand heat. There's metal inside the plastic tubing. Hopefully, it will last a few years. Otherwise, it's only $20 each tube.
