Hi

Hong Kong spec has that space too. I usually put my cel phone there. It would be even nicer if they line the bottom with non slip material cuz sometimes my phone falls out during a hard turn. Nonetheless, nice little feature to have.

Bunbun.

The top CD just falls out when I accelerate REAL hard.
Some wallets fit in there too.

Send Kigerka a PM if you want to retrofit. He asked his dealer about it, and I think he said it's possible... Not sure though...

both slots, the one on the drivers side and the middle one are useless, and even dangerous, i've had keys, wallets and cds slip to my feet. i hate it because there are really no spaces to put things into, i have even started to put things in front of the idrive screen where the material is non slip! go figure, they shut put it where its needed instead of using it where you are not supposed to put things

VW advertise on TV about how anal they are with designing stuff like cupholders, and the sound a closing door makes. I guess it's supposed to convey their attention to detail.

I've always found VW/Audi cupholders veyr good. Never had a BMW before, so I'm not sure what to expect. Doesn't sound like they're too great though.

Perhaps BMW need to poach a few VW engineers. The ones that designed their cupholders.

BTW, are cupholders standard fit, or an option on the US spec cars? I just assume they're standard, because they are in the UK.
