From what I know, SB does not affect the SMG, as long as you use the Auto SB, which has the less aggressive signal amplification, than the manual SB. Search for the thread where they posted the tech. white paper on SB - it covers the SMG issue.
I do not see how a quaife diff can make ANY difference at all on transmission speed by distributing the torque to the wheels that have grip? But that does not affect how the transmission is transfering the torque from the engine to the drive shafts... granted, LSD makes better use of torque, but why would it be any different with the SMG, as opposed to, say, manual or steptronic tranny? how does it affect the SMG performance differently?

The Quaife LSD uses different gear rations making more torque in the low range and cause revs to be higher in the gears... I believe.
What I think you're refering to is that the LSD alters the final drive ratio. You cannot have different gear ratios without actually changing the gears themselves, so unless you have a CVT, where the ratio is ever-changing, you'd have to swap the tranny to have diff gear ratios without actually adjusting them - or do you mean that the ratios are adjusted when the LSD is installed? I doubt it, but it is possible.
And still, I don't see how that makes the tranny shift any faster. The only way you can make the tranny shift faster is by changing the flywheel, changing the clutch or - in SMG's case - altering the programming somehow...
I don't know, Krozi, you've only added a new level to my confusion. good job - now I'll have to spend a few hours on this thread
