I'm thinking of getting the IPOD adapter but would like to know if I can play music from Applications such as "FLYCAST". I've got a 6gb data plan and like the variety of music that internet radio offers. It works great on 3G and sounds just as good as any mp3 off my ipod.
Can anyone tell me if the adapter has this functionality or am I stuck listning to just MP3's from the IPHONE?
Thanks

You can't with OEM iPod interface but you can with Dension Gateway 500:

during 'application' mode you loose iDrive control over the iPod.

The Denison does look sweet but the dealer in my area is completly against aftermarket and I could see them refusing to install it. Guess I wont be returning my FM modulator after all

That's weak sauce, I can't beleive they charge so much for an OEM device with such limited functionality.

Well technically you can install the Dension yourself.
And once it is installed, you just go 2 BMW to have it programmed for you. They will recognize it as an ipod / CDC. Once that is enabled the dension will work.
I had the BMW Ipod kit and did a direct swap with the dension since it already had the BMW programming.
Good luck!

In normal circumstances, BMW dealers won't code a car for a CD Changer unless there is a BMW CD changer there.
