Cool!?
Can you check with them on the 'detectability' of the update by the dealer...? There was a rumour on this site recently that a chipped engine could be detected really quickly - holding the trip button or something...
Service Inclusive is invalidated if you chip!!! (I've read the T+C's)

he said when I ordered it that it's undetectable by BMW. Maybe I should get that in writing... so if BMW do find it, I can send them the bill!

This is the reason why I've delayed chipping my diesel... Turbo engines chip really well
Look at this thread Chipped? Look at Iceman's thead #9...
For US owners I just heard back from DMS. Confirms JayEll's findings and they have an engineer in Illinois who will handle the upgrade if the ECU is sent over. One thing, DMS did say in the email to me that the remap is undectable by BMW. Bottom line is that we've had a bunch of forum members remap their diesels with DMS and I've not seen any posts from EU owners saying they had any problems at the dealerships as a consequence.
Looking forward to getting the update from JayEll!!!!
yeah he quoted me over a recorded line (my end) that it is 100% undetectable.
in for a service in about 400 miles so will find out!
full report coming this weekend! very excited. though i highly doubt i'll ever get to test the delimiter!
Before you jump in and get the remap take a look at THIS maybe you will think twice, I have. JayEll I think you have already read this !!!!
funnily enough .. i started that post (i am Jay545 on that forum)
i'm still going with it i think..
To be honest if this was such an issue wouldn't it have arisen already for the many members here who have remapped their diesels? Any observations from clived or others that have had the remap done to the 535d's and 530d's?
How old is your car JayEll...
It only becomes an issue when you take your car back to the dealer with engine problems and they do some digging to find the problem, then low and behold they find the remap...bang goes your warranty !!!

I suppose that you can't really blame BMW for voiding the warranty of chip'd cars. For the 545i, I would think that it is possible for the valvetronic system to damage something (piston) or get dmaged itself due to a change in the ECU programming.

To me right now?the gains just seem too good to be true?but at the same time I hope that someone puts up some honest dyno results and proves me wrong?27hp and 13 lb/ft would be quite an accomplishment out of this motor on a chip (remap) alone

Petrol models achieve good gains due to us changing the parameters of the VANOS system, this essentially is like installing a set of sport camshafts.
like i said ... i will post initial thoughts.. i'm sure i can tell whether or not it's quicker.
as for proving the fact it's pushing out 260hp, only a dyno will show!
octane will come into play as well...for people in CA (as an example) who can only get 91...results (whatever they end being) will be far less.
like I said (well inferred) I'm sure it'll "help" hp etc...but to the degree that is claimed...I'm skeptical
i hear ya. and i'm not the kinda person gullable enough to believe everything i'm told.
but this is DMS .. i've read a number of magazine articles on their cars. all have been proven with good results. on that basis, i don't believe they'd be stupid enough to claim and charge customers and not be able to back it up. it would be easy for a customer to prove their figures wrong, and therefore want their cash back. these guys tune prestige German motors, their reputation is at risk.
see where i'm coming from?

now for me is astonishing the upgrade from 272bhp to 350bhp from the german tuner in sport programme! That money well spent imo! over 70 hp of increse
yeah but other than bolting on a supercharger, i'm not likely to achieve those gains!
if 27 is what i can have, then 27 is what i'll take... thx
