M5's (all M cars) come with an LSD, putting in a Dinan LSD is not going to make much difference. If you change the gears in one car but both cars have LSD's the shorter geared car will win a drag race every time.
The bang for the buck is taking a high horsepower non M car, like a 545/550, changing the gears and installing the LSD will dramatically change the car. The result is M car acceleration and driving dynamics without the super stiff suspension. Sort of like the Alpina approach to high performance road cars

The Dinan diff lowers the stock final drive from 3.62 to 3.91.

Re: the flywheel, Dinan claims that their modded flywheel still results in a quiet gearbox - have no clue whether that's true. I have heard of similar problems to your M3 issues with lightened flywheels. In most cases though I believe those examples are from installing lightened single-mass flywheels into cars that originally had heavier dual-mass. The Dinan flywheel is still heavier than a lightened single-mass (and likely to be as perfectly balanced as a stock unit), and so it's possible that gearbox noise is still acceptable.

Then all other things being equal a 3.91 geared car is going to be faster than 3.62
