Roleez, you are the savior. It was your post , thanks. I do remember reading all your stuff and thanks for posting the audio clip and pictures of your install. That is what helped me decide!

So all the mods were great, BUT you still had to have an M5! That is my concern, if I keep doing mods and eventually end up with an M5.
Same thing happened to me as Roel. I had all the Dinan performance mods too (Stage 3 software, throttle body, intake, exhaust..) on my old 545 but eventually switched to the M5. You should stop wasting money and pick up a used M5 now.

Glad to be of help! I'm sure you'll probably (after some time) end up craving a drive in an M5. After driving the 550 around for 2 & 1/2 years, the odo was inching closer and closer to the 50,000-mile mark. Seeing that this car isn't a Honda and won't ever reach 285,000 trouble-free miles like my trusty 92 Accord, there was no way in hell I was going to keep the 550 past warranty expiration. So I thought ... keep car and extend warranty, or check out the M5 or new M3 with a new warranty. Didn't want to deal with problems past the 50K mark, so I decided a new car it will be. I drove the M5 SMG and M5 6MT back and forth on test drives several times over 5 months at several dealerships. When the E90 M3 came out, I drove the 6MT several times as well. In the end, it was the SMG and the soundtrack of the V10 that lured me in. Haven't looked back since. But when the magic (or not-so-magic, depending how you look at it) 50,000-mile mark approaches, I'll be hanging up my gas guzzler driving gloves to step into a more gas-practical 335i 6MT or 335d (only if they release a 6MT for the diesel). Just 38,000 miles left to go.

Very cool, wish i was in the market when your 550i was for sale!

Ihave 57k miles an 1 year of cpo warranty left. I'm going to take my chances and see how far she will go. I figure the loss I would realize in selling it and the cost to purchase another car has to be more then keeping this one and paying for the repairs. I hope I'm correct. Plus I really like the car and its performance is still superb.

Thanks Ryan, how is the M5 purchase going?
I'm still looking for it. M5s are such a rare car that
It's hard to find for my exact taste. I'm looking for
CPO.

Have fun with dinan exaust. I'll let you know if I need
to parting out other dinan parts.

Took 1.5 hours on Sunday. A buddy and I jacked up the car and did the install. All I can say is WOW! For those of you with a 545i or 550i that are comtamplating an exhaust, DO IT. The DINAN is expensive but it works perfect through out the rev range. Here are some pics of the stock vs DINAN .
I was using BB phone.
nice job Steve! bet your loving your car even more now!

I drove my friends E39 M5 today, it is truly an awesome car. I still love the look. I can only imagine what the E60 is like.
