If you have a manual transmission, IMO you will like the improved drivability quite a bit. I noticed a much more linear throttle response after the upgrades, making smooth gearchanges a much easier and enjoyable task.

Note that this comment is separate and distinct from the power improvements from the rest of the upgrades - the software mainly corrects a non-linear throttle map that is - as I understand it - optimized for the EPA fuel economy test over other factors.

Ok

So I got the stage II done at the dealer this morning. They said if in 24 hours if I don't like it, I get a full refund.

I have the RPI scoop and the RPI Exhaust - 5 Series E60 550i (GT, Axleback). I also have a K&N filter with the charcoal filter removed

I have an 550 sport with automatic trans without paddles

I only drove it from the dealer to my house which is about 20 miles and I only used the (D) mode not sports and I must say it felt like I was in sports mode all the way home. I will try the sports mode later and give a report

So far I have no complaints and was gonna get the sprint booster but feel I don't need it now

I know there are mixed review, however it seems to be in my favor as of now. Off for a drive ttyl

Tbanks - do you see a difference in the fuel economy, better or worse because it feels like sport mode when in D?

There seems to be no difference in fuel economy. However I always drove in DS so it seems to be the same as when I was in DS.. DS mode does not have a much of a boost. However yes there is slightly. The big difference is the D mode and that alone is worth it to me without having any switches or buttons to push, especially if I go to sell the Bimmer I don't have to explain why I had to modify a switch or a button. Not to knock any of that because I am a true DIYer. All in all I am happy with the stage 2 set up with my options noted above in the previous post

Cool. I'm doing the Magnaflow 16559 exhaust this summer. I already have the K & N filter and the RPI scoops. The combo should all work well together. Thanks for posting this.

I was facing the same dilemma- my 2010 550i had poor throttle response. The power was fine if you have time, but it was pretty lame in general driving situations in which I found myself, eg. while trying to speed up slightly in order to merge into a traffic gap. I wasn't pleased about this behaviour. Six months ago, I also had all the adaptations reset, and for three days, things were amazing: the car was responsive and quick- like a dream. After three days or four days, the adaptations gradually retaught themselves back to the lazy ways. I read your initial post (psam550) while pondering whether to go for the Dinan Stage 1.
Well, I had it installed two weeks ago exactly, and here are my findings so far. Driving off the dealer lot with Dinan 1, I could feel immediately that the car felt better. It was quite similar to how it felt after the adaptations had been reset- ready to lunge compared to how it had been. It felt almost the same as after the adaptations had been reset, but (I believe) a little smoother all around. After the adaptations had been reset six months ago, I thought that things felt slightly rougher somehow. With Dinan1, the low end torque is improved quite a lot, and off the line, it feels almost as good as Sport mode does. In any given driving situation in Normal mode (when the revs are usually quite low if the car isn't being pushed) there is a lot more torque available, and the throttle response is much better. I was very pleased. Now, it has been two weeks, and (...wait for it...) it still feels the same way! I am really happy (so far). It doesn't seem that the adaptations are calculating themselves back into a lame corner. As of right now, I'm really pleased to have spent the money on the stage 1, and would very much recommend it.
