If that was the case then why isn't the Dension Gateway only delayed for the BMW and all the other models already hitting the streets? AFAIK despite what the web site says it isn't released on the Mercedes (slated to be end of May) or Audi (mid June) yet either. I'm having trouble believing this is a BMW issue alone.
I was sort of hanging out for the Gateway, as someone else said. the flexibility of USB would surely be nice.

There is a report of someone using a prototype BMW solution on the E90 forum. From that it appears you not only lose the CD changer but somehow need the I-drive recoding for the Ipod solution as well, odd considering it imply appears to emulate a CD changer just like the Dension
...the wait for either solution continues.....

you would think why its so hard for BMW to get in to an agreement with Apple, even though they started before Mercedes with iPod, but Merc Ipod solutions are a factory fitted option now, so whats wrong BMW??????? I want I want I want iPod keeping the CD changer as well. Here is what I have installed in my LX470 Mark Levinson Head Unit www.vaistech.com and it works fantastic...maybe we should ask them to develop for the iDrive head unit. No upgrade from dealer necessary for software.

Unfortunately the release of Gateway 500 BMW is delayed. According to the latest news from the manufacturer the Gateway 500 will be available September/October.

Dension contacted me today, BMW will be the second and not the 1st to get the new interface, no dates yet, all dealers said 3-4 months, I doubt it, but for me it is ok now I listened on a 4000km journey my Mp3 Cds and that worked from the steering wheel so I will wait for Dension as will be cheaper than BMW's and offer much more... But we will see. thx mates

Exactly! Dension provides us capability to use either CD changer or iPod, cheaper solution, but at a price - long wait
