Jay2jay that's a very generous offer and one I would like to take up. By the way I live in Hounslow and frequent Richmond often. Let me know when your set up. I'm also glad you got the bluetooth as I want to get this done as well.

Delwarulislam I'll definately give u a shout if I see u. My E60 isn't as distinctive as yours so you probably would never know if you passed me. Give me a shout anyway. If the person looks at u funny, it ain't me!
No worries, I'll be in touch once I'm up and working.

I have my car now, I am officially an owner! It's lovely and such a dream to drive! I had a quick glance for the cdc connector last night but couldn't see it, I could see a few cables in there, I gave them a little tug but they seem attached, I'll have a proper look over the weekend end, there's a panel above the footwell behind the glove box which I'll take off to get a better look!

When I was looking for the CDC cables it also seemed attached - you have to fiddle with quite a bit to get it lose from were ever it is stuck/attached.

Ah ok, cool, I might give it another go a bit later. I've recieved the Dension stuff so I'll plug it in and see if anything happens!

Does anyone have a copy of the most up-to-date firmware? I've tried the address that came with the unit http://install.dension.com/gw5 but it doesn't work and also an address that I found in another thread http://support.dension.com/support-center/...x=&mod_id=1 but I can't get it to download the firmware!!

Well it's installed, roughly, I get nothing from it though, I have a blue flashing light on Aux input unit but that's about it. I knew it wouldn't work without the software but I was hoping for a 'BMW' logo or something? For the optical connection I didn't really follow any of the diagrams, I don't have a cdc so that was out, another diagram showed a connector in the back of the headunit, you don''t have to dismantle all that do you? I just got the two cables that connected nose to nose, seperated them, checked one had light (it did), put them into a connector block and plugged it into the Dension unit.

For the dip switches, again nothing applied, the three BMW options are:

Text capable BMW E87, E90, E91, E92, E93, E60/61, E63/E64, E65/E66 (03/2005-), E70 and Mini (Non iDrive-4)

-or-

No text capable BMW E65/E66 (-03/2005) (non iDrive-4)

-or-

BMW E90, E91, E92, E93 with iDrive-4 Use a CDC for enabling

Which would you use? the first? But I don't have a text enabled car? or is it that I will once the update is done?

jay2jay,

I was hoping you would at least hear the music once installed.

On another note, on your installation guide did it mention DEGW5-9210-5?

Hi guys, been reading this. and I'm in the same position. I was told CCC units from 03/2005 onwards had MP3 enabled. My CCC manufactured date was 06/2005.

I installed the Dension and used all manner of combinations for the dip switch but nothing.

But during this trial and error situation, I stumbled across something weird.

Plug your ipod/phone in, switch to service mode so the cd player and changer are working. Then whilst iphone playing, switch back to dension and voila. It starts the playing through speakers. The CCC is totally confused at this point, as all the CD1-5 is shaded out and it switches to FM, but the music is coming from your iphone??!! Go figure.

I'm thinking if it works like that, then what am I doing wrong. Everything is connected as per dension instructions. Must be MP3 enablement is needed.
