So I searched for it but I couldn't find it on here. Any idea what the cost of a new ECU for an 08 550i is?? Since I'd have to ship my ECU out of country if I want to get it modded, I wanted to know how great the risk factor is.

E-mail Garry Romani at gromani@bmwofnewport.com... Tell him you're a member of e60.net and he might be able to give a 25% discount on whatever the price of the ECU is. This guy is the Parts Mgr at BMW of Newport.

Ok thanks but I'm sure it's a huge risk unless i bring it myself instead of getting it shipped

Is it worth getting the ECU tune though?

Absolutely... go with RPI/ESS or Powerchip. I have the Powerchip tune and am quite happy with it but I would have rather gone with RPI if I didn't have to ship my ECU out west. Since you are already out in LA I suggest getting the RPI/ESS tune... I know several others will support this suggestion.
