So there are a TON of possibilities out there for angel eye upgrades, all ranging from $1 to over $300. Which ones do you use and recommend?
Looking up the part on realoem.com, it seems to me that the bulb (on LCI E60) is a simple H8. So what's stopping everyone from buying a 5000K or 6000K color temperature H8 LED bulb off eBay and throwing it in?

The iDrive warning error
LCI AE runs at reduced voltage and even less when the low beam on (notice it'll get dimmer), and the iDrive is rather sensitive when you put LED as the load will be different and throw warning error which you can ignore but it may lead to auto shut off.
Stick w/ std halogen H8 bulb, there are plenty out there w/ color temp selection you like plus it'll brighter than the LED. If you wanna go bright do HID but look for the one that has voltage regulator otherwise w/ the same reason as above your HID will not fire up ('cuz it needs a full 12V) or will flicker ... check w/ John @ Motorcepts.

OK understand. So the new 335s with the bright white corona rings use LED bulbs as well? So no easy solution other than those ricey high wattage blue bulbs people used to use as low beams....

The one in the new 335 is not a simple LED 'bulb' that you can just buy and put it in your headlight it's a completely different design (it's not even a bulb but it's integrated into the AE rings) all together, it's the same technology they use in the new 5 (F10).
Why ricey? You don't have to buy the very hi temp color that produce more blue get the 5K and you get simply white. The difference is w/ regular bulb it's just gonna look like LCI AE (except whiter color) if you use HID it'll look more like that 335 (very bright).
Color & brightness are 2 diff. things, you can have regular brightness w/ very blue-ish (hi-temp) color w/ std H8 bulb or have high brightness w/ yellow-ish (lo-temp) color w/ HID bulb ... or the other way around.
