I don't have GPS/NAV in the car.

Just picked up my 07' 530 yesterday.

Still getting familiar with it all but realized there was no compass that was obvious anywhere. I actually have come to use it quite a bit over the years.

There is a lot going on with these cars!

iDrive is way easy. Journalists looking to pick at things are just not getting it.

In fact, the HVAC controls are so easy.

Bluetooth is great feature! If message waiting its not happy, but other than it it works great!

Compass????

Obviously, there's a compass function in the vehicles with NAV, but it's not the easiest thing to use, and shows directions in the very crude N, NE, E, SE, S etc. system. As to the non-NAV cars, I'd guess there isn't...

Try this...

$295

I go back and forth about getting this. My Tahoe has it and I love it, but just not sure if it's worth the money. I won't do anything till I decide if I'm going to buy car at end of lease.

You can go into the Idrive (service, I think) and turn on the GPS and leave that on. if you are familiar with the NSEW coordinates it might help you.

Good solution but it loses the "homelink" function.

I suppose I could get a Garmin if I really need it.

Thanks for the idea!

In the new catalog (not shown on e60.net) there is a rearview with Compass and HomeLink. It's on page 29, it runs $475 + $30 for a "Cable Kit." I hope this helps. Your dealer should have the catalog at there parts desk.

Does it? My E90 has a rearview mirror with compass AND homelink.

My Ride: 2004 545i / Orient Blue (I think) / Tan int / 116's Wheels / ... my favorite option, the HEATED steering wheel! Previous cars retired: 2006 Corvette Z51, 2002 Corvette Coupe, 2002 Mustang, 1997 Maxima, 1994 Camry, 1990 Supra None, and I mean none compare to this 545i. The 06 Corvette was faster, but not by much...

I 've got the compass in the rear view mirror but I never use it. I had it installed when I neede a new mirror because I had the OEM alarm installed. It only costed me EUR 30 more over the standard mirror.
