Cold air take works

Well I just for kicks measure the ambient air temp inside my engine bay v. the area surrounding the air filter of my AFE CAI. The intake has a pretty good size heat shield that although gets hot itself seems to do a very good job of keeping heat away from the filter and air inside the intake.

I basically got home from some spirited driving and popped the hood and measure a ambient air temp of 185 in the air directly beside various places near the engine. I tried about 3 different areas all with consistent measures.

I then measured the air inside my intake-beside the filter and it was approx 25 degrees cooler which I thought was quite impressive considering the mechanism is a simple heat shield. So I think AFE makes a darn good product

And influence to performance?

Who knows-theoretically colder air creates more hp. I guess their claims are to create colder air and atleast this design seems to is all I am saying.
