would a software update from the dealer or ecu tune flash from an aftermarket vendor wipe out any coding done by you? if so, what would be your policy on re-coding?

Sure, what is it you're looking for? Nearly all of the things I listed applies besides the Welcome Light.

This I am not sure. I have not heard or read anything about these module codings being wiped to default. In any case, as courtesy, I am willing to recode once without charge.

Per my experience, and feedback from NoQuarter, I am removing "Auto close roof when rain is detected (requires rain sensor activated)".

The reason is that it doesn't seem to function correctly for the E60's, and causes the sun-roof to not to be able to initialize correctly.

Can you code the angel eyes as DRL for a 2006? I also want the welcome lights.

Not really at all. If it operated like the Audis and VWs, then yah, that would be cool. Unfortunately, it requires your car to be on, and the wiper sensor active. Which you have to activate every time you turn the car on. More or less useless in my opinion.

Depends on the build date of your vehicle. Check your drivers side door.

I have a 04 545i and would like a few things coded however the main thing would be to eliminate the DRL. In turn it would be nice to have the AEs on instead, as someone else pointed out. BTW, we have a bi-weekly BMW meet in Chino Hills and have a few E60s show up each time, I'm sure those guys would be interested and you could knock out a few at our meet.

Hi

As information :

Any software update at the dealership will "reset" all altering done in the FSW_PSW parameters by NCS-Expert ( Individual Light settings , comfort functions , etc. ) , so after a visit to the dealership where they do connect ther computer ( PROGMAN or ISTA/P ) , it will "wipe" all coded feetures out ! , only alterings to the FA/SA list will be obtained ( SA codes + spec. codes like : +NAUK , -IPOD , +MEUB etc. )

This is a fact I know for sure , have been working with both NCS-Expert ( and the hole Ediabas package ) + PROGMAN coding , the PROGMAN and ISTA/P always set's the default value from the FA/SA parameters to default.

Also when coding on cars from 03/2007 and onwards with Ediabas software ( like the NCS-Expert ), one would need a different Interface ( between car and LapTop ) , due to after that date ( also for E9x ) the communication runs over D-Can instead of K-Can !, if you try doing it the "wrong" way round , one can "blackout" the hole electronic of the car ( normaly it restore itself , normaly ! ) , so please be awear !

In order to be able to code different light "options" like Welcomligt etc. the lightmodul ( LMA ) must have part no. 9.154.944 or newer , same used when "upgrading" from pre-LCI Head/Taillight to LCI.

Kind Regards
BenAnd
