Here's my DIY: Now with pictures (thanks Lomag)

-Disconnect MAF sensor harness. Loosen clamps with 1/4? nut driver.

-Unclip upper half of air box and lift carefully. Rotate upper half of air box 180 degrees.
Remove charcoal filter if present (Performance Improving Mod).
- MAF sensor is now accesible through the intake hole. Follow instructions on CRC MAF Sensor cleaner for use.
-Install housing back on, tighten clamp and re-attach harness.

Really easy DIY and yes you need Security T25 bit. I have cleaned it today, have not had the chance to drive around yet but the idle is much smoother. I have 41K miles. I'll see if you feel any difference in driving or in mpg tomorrow.

BUT Here is the BIG question:

While doing this I managed to droop the T25 bit in the engine bay, just around the sensor. I heard it go down, hit against the metal and finally a sound of it touching/resting on the plastic. I can't see it but I think it is resting on the bottom bay cover. I have not taken the bottom cover off to retrieve the wrench yet. I was going to go to my brother's place tomorrow who has better jack and jack stand to make it easier to work.

DO YOU think it is safe to drive about 60 miles before I can take the think off? Hopefully it would not jump around and catch in some kind of belt or any other mechanical part. What do you guys think?
OK, I looked for the lost wrench (L shape wrench) but did not find any. I took off the bottom body cover (not only the oil pan cover but the whole plastic cover but did not find the wrench anywhere But I also notice there is a big metal cover right under the engine bay, just above the plastic cover. No wrench, I only HOPE it must have fell some where on the freeway, otherwise it is till laying somewhere at the bottom metal cover and in that case I can potentially still bounce around and cause some damage some day..

Has any body dropped any small parts (small wrenches, screws, bits etc.) in the engine bay and NOT found them? What kind of harm it can cause? or Am I worried for nothing?

You need to insert a extended magnet down there. It usually picks up any loose screws, tools etc.

test

On the '08/'09s, the MAF is part of the upper lid of the airbox.

I went into mine and removed the charcoal filter and put the orange back in but the orange is not exactly a perfect fit which I thought was unusual. Perhaps the RPI filter will be a better fit.

Now, I loosened the clamp that holds the upper lid of the airbox to the intake tube but I was unable to work out of the intake tube so I could spray it down. Should I just tug on it a bit harder for it to come out?
