Default CIC install, gray 'Navigation'. Emulator issue?

I just did my CIC install. When I first plugged in the CIC and turned it on, navigation showed up. Then I wired it the emulator and the navigation became grayed out. Any way to test the emulator to see if it's defective?

Thx

Default Weird, after the car sat overnight, now 'navigation' is fine.

I am having trouble coding the CIC though. See attached

I also bought the emulator on ebay. The rest of the parts came from dealer or board members.

Interestingly enough everything works now including navigation. I only have two glitches to deal with. First, I have not been able to code the CIC using NCSExpert due to the error.
Second, when I did the oil measurement is shows up as above MAX. My car is an M5 and it takes 10 quarts of oil. The donor car was a 2010 535xi which takes 7 quarts. The CIC must somehow be confusing the car regarding the amount of oil needed.

Default I messed it up completely

I did a TEST_CODIERUNG and the CIC is now in German and all M-Specific functions and Nav are gone.

After the car slept, the CIC reverted to normal. Still can't code it though. Updated the DATEN to V54. I am attaching the ncsexpert error log.

I ask because I had a unit that had the same symptoms, someone had mashed it together using different CIC units from different cars, in an attempt to make them work. The mother board was from a `10 535 wagon from Europe, the DVD player was from an `09 M5, it was really wonky. I never got it to work, so I unloaded it for parts.

Can't help you beyond that but yes an Emulator is typically required for it to function as it should. I pieced mine together with various parts around eBay and works great.

How did you know?

p.s. Mine works, I just can't communicate with it using ncsexpert

I had it sent to a guy in NJ he told me by looking through some of the modules. He also was not able to communicate with ncsexpert, but I have no idea how he did it beyond that.

Try bmwcoding.com
