It seems that the majority of the people on the forums are opposed to chrome wheels. To each his own but what are some reasons for the no chrome. Ive seen comments like "it'll take the luxury out of the BMW" I dont see how, maybe it'll make it more flashy but c'mon taking away the luxury makes no sense to me. Another one i see often is " CHROME?..ON A BMW?!? NO WAY!" Once again why? I mean what should you put chrome rims on then? a honda civic? In most car magazines I read (and in person) most of the sickest BMWs ive seen have chrome rims. Maybe some of you can help explain your dislike of chrome on BMWs.
I do agree that chrome isnt for everyone and there are plenthy of chrome rims that would/do look silly on BMWs but they would also look just as stupid on most other make/models. But I believe a nice, classy set of chromies make a BMW look beautiful.

its all personal preference, theres people who like to have a sporty e60 (the majority here) and people that like to have chrome dubs with 5+inch lips, but chrome has found its way into a cheaper market, so its like an anti thing for people who drive higher class cars

interesting.. ill add my 2 cents.. i used to be a fan of chrome.. now.. i have to say.. ive wandered away from it.. i guess ideas change with the times and all.. but i kinda agree with some wheels chrome can look cheap.. i agree it does depend on the wheel and car itself..

i think its like wide leg jeans and small purses. . lol.. times change and so does style..

Chrome can either make a wheel look superb or just cheap.

I like chrome lips, but thats pretty much it. The finish on the face of the wheel should not be chrome though

If chrome has found its way into the cheaper market what has found its way to the higher class cars? alloy?
I'd much rather see a bimmer, benz, jag, cadillac with chrome wheels then seeing a ford, honda, mitsubishi etc w/ chrome rims. That just doesnt make sense to me.

You hear that a lot, because the majority thinks very poorly of chrome. Thats just the way it is. You can take a beautiful wheel, dip it in chrome, andit becomes a turd.

I totally see what youre saying but i dont think the chrome style has faded. I see more and more luxury cars on the road w/ chrome, also in magazines, movies, music videos, and newer rap songs all still show and brag about "big luxury cars with big wheels".
I think most of our e60's are luxury cars and not little sports cars. I can understand not putting chrome on a m3 for example but imo e60s arent really meant to be race cars, more for cruisin around looking good. Not that non chrome wheels cant look great on a e60 but imo non cheap looking chrome
looks the best.
