Thumbs up

Yo

I've got a the updated 530d 2006 engine (on order, delivery in 8 weeks)

And considering chipping it, i checked a few places and i can get about 40-55hk and about 75nm for 600 dollars, so cheap!

1.What risks do i take?
2.Is the additional effect worth it? how much faster would it be?
3.Anyone else chipped the updated 530d?
4.Should i wait 2 years until the warrenty experice?

BTW i'm located in sweden, if anyone have any experience with tunning places here let me know.
Regards
Kvark

That's a bit harsh Ralph - there is NOTHING about chipping the new 530D on here and this is a developing area. People are still trying to crack the encryption to allow piggy back remapping and so on. Ask away Kvark - I'm interested in the replies too.

ditto ... this is related to the new 530d engine, discussions in the past have been around the old(er) 530d and 535d.

Some thoughts on your question...

1. Wait until you get the car and see if you feel you really need the extra punch
2. Certainly wait until the car is well run-in before getting it done.

I am also suprised that remapping is available for the new 530d yet.

fyi... I am considering remapping mine but I have never really got around to it. To be honest I think the performance of the 530d is pretty decent (and the new engine will be better) and so chipping it is a real indulgance ... although I dont recall hearing anyone who has had their 530d/535d remapped saying anything other that massive praise for the affect it can have on the engine.

In theory it could reduce the life of the engine/drivetrain.

I'm guessing but you'd probably knock about 0.3-0.5s off a 0-60 but the big gain is in general driveability. The mid-range is usually enhanced to give even better acceleration.

I think the engine is too new at the moment but I'm sure the usual suspects will release a new map for it!

Yo thanks all.

Ok, I'm not gonna be the first one to chip this engine, coming from a 320i 01 (170hk)
I think there should be plenty of power to keep me happy for a few months, but it's damn dempting to spend 500 bucks and get 50 more hk/and 100 more nm, isnt it

Mr Ralph-NL

There's no going back - once you've chipped it you are hooked for life. Unless you go for a 535D (and then you will need to chip that!)

The DMS site refers to the 'new' 730D being chipped to 260bhp... DMS

I assume this is the 231PS engine... Always give them a ring/email - they seem like good guys!
