My Ride: 2006 M5 with many mods....

Does anyone know why I would receive this error message on my Ipod when it is attached to the BMW installed Ipod kit? Frustrating as hell, especially when it dies!

That happened to me on my Bose SoundDock after a software update - pissed me off.

A lot of people are using this device, it is a great work around...

But this really pisses me off! 400? for the iPod Touch, 650? for the iPod adapted including installation, and then the damn thing doesn't charge! WTF!?!

BMW told me that this is an Apple issue, and maybe it will be "fixed" with an update.

Apple told me that this is a BMW iPod adapter issue - the adapter does not have enough power to charge new iPod Touch models.

I really wonder who is correct.

Regardless, I expected seamless integration and it isn't. :thumbsdown:

This is actually an Apple issue, they really should have thought about this before changing the iPOD dock for charging. There are too many devices made in the world that rely on Apple retaining the dock configuration - But Hey Apple can do what they like with their product can't they?

This is what I attempted to say to the salesman at the Apple Store. According to him, the BMW adapter is at fault for not keeping up with the requirements of new iPod models.

My argument that BMW only makes one type of cable/dock for all previous iPod versions fell on deaf ears.

Who knows, perhaps the new iPod Touch is just too new for everyone.

If it makes you feel any better I just spent a decent amount on an aftermarket iPod adapter (mObridge) for my stock stereo - then out of impulse 2 days ago I ordered a pro Nav conversion rendering my current adapter useless to me. I think these cars are just all about making money disappear.

So far, aside form dealership labor rates, I am happy with the whole BMW experience. I swear I could make a living buying a Progman unit and subscription.

Scoche Passport was just delivered to my front door.

I look forward to plugging in this bad boy and seeing it work.

Also, I told the local Apple Store about this product, and they plan to carry it. Seems that I am not the only iPod Touch customer that isn't so pleased about the non-charging issue.
