The intake box is quite adequately sized for the N52 engine, I can't find a way to improve what seems to work best in terms of getting cold air for everyday use. Hood scoop is nice, but it wouldn't look right on our car.
...SNIP....
I will report back once I have the tube fabricated & installed, which I'm looking at in about a week.

I think a well executed hood scoop would look great. I think one would have to get chrome P I M P wheels and chromed trim and chrome everything else for it to really look tight and pimpin'. Maybe some tire shine and a pair fuzzy dice hanging from the rear view........
What do you think boys?

I look forward to seeing the design and final product. I would like to get rid of in and out side resonators....

As far as I could see, there's only one resonator attached to the intake system, which is located on top of the intake pipe I'm going to replace with aluminum piping.

I think this only applies to the 545 or 550 and the older 525/530 before the engine upgrade but i'm not 100% sure. The newer 525/530 don't have the filter to begin with. Can anyone verify?

No charcoal filter, ony the standard orange air filter.
Almost no debris found underneath.

Sounds like an easy improvement- has anyone found a K&N filter for the 550? I've searched the web but only so far been able to see the fitment for the 545...
Thanks. I just joined- been in BMWs since 1988 and look forward to the forum.
