I change my tips and they are 1.5 inches longer and slightly larger diameter-and the increased length definetly caused some increased resonance and more high pitch tones- It is simple physics (even though i hate whne people say that ) increase length of a tube effects harmonics pretty predictablly

I doubt it would change the sound, I think and extra 3 inches will only help the sound in the bedroom.
