It's made of two parts that are attached together.
The part number is just one, so, my question is: when the lower part becomes available with wood trim will they create a new part number for that part or must i order the whole item (upper and lower part) ?

Notice the 4 anchor points and the two screw holes. (second pic)

i think your right. You will need a new whole piece.

Interesting. Sometimes part 15 is $24 and again it's $32.76. I wonder if that depends on whether it is both parts or just one?

Actually that will not be a wood trim, it will be painted black, so it will look way better.
