RPI scoops, fitlers, block off plates and pulleys are a must for a M5. I was just at RPI on the 22nd and they were performing a dyno on a '06 M5 with the exact mods mentioned. The dyno came out at 490.5 HP to the wheel!
Not quite 490 rwhp. It was 390 rwhp which puts it at 507 crank hp (stock number). Even with the aforementioned mods, this M5 wasn't running very strong. We surmised that the previous owner had babied the car. As you know, the ECU/ECM is an adaptive module. It learns the driving habits of the driver and adjusts accordingly. This is the same for all the BMWs. So, if you want more horsepower drive it hard.

I beat the crap out of my engine. It's always in M mode (P500 or P500Sport) and it's always running at around 3.5-4.5k RPM. Anything less, would be uncivilized.

Joe my mistake...
what was the HP before the RPI mods? was it 369HP?

I just had Trinity install the scoop and filter on my tiny motor and I am confident I feel a difference. I just bought the thing so aside form an impulsive trip to the high desert last weekend, I haven't had time to get to know the car. I figure, the technology and physics are proven for other vehicles, how can it not make a difference with mine?

The price is good too in all relativity.

I just installed an RPI air intake / induction plus the filter they sell with the kit. I wanted to chime in and say to anyone who is skeptical, BELIEVE IT! I am astounded at the fact this mod truly does make a significant (i.e. noticable) difference in performance. And that is me driving it today in ambient air temps 85-95 degrees F and speeds of up to 65 mph.

I would encourage anyone who does not have this mod and wants to improve their performance to seriously consider getting it. This is by far the best ROI (Return on Investment) of any mod that I've ever had on any car - period! The best way I can explain it is to compare what the RPI air induction does for you is similar to starting your car up on a cool morning with the air around 40-50 degrees F. Every BMW V8 I've ever owned (on # 5 now) has loved that band of air temps, in terms of power. I've always noticed a little extra kick under those conditions. Now I can enjoy that feeling all the time.

it also seems as if the car revs higher. Perhaps it just revs higher more easily. I can't tell for sure. But regardless, hats off to RPI! Highly recommended.
