Just wanted to get an as in depth as possible explanation on how the RPI air scoops and back off plates and air filter change works? And which parts i need to get the best performance out of my car?

Thanks in advance!

"RPi's ram air block off plates are used in conjunction with our Ram Air kit. The plates partially block off the bottom secondary hole of the intake box. This allows for quicker pressurization of the intake system. Dyno tests have shown a 4-6whp gain in the midrange."

"RPi's Ram Air Scoops converts your factory intake system into a ram air type. Other aftermarket induction kits mostly suck in hot air causing a loss of performance. The use of heatshields are not very affective as heat shields mainly work to block radiant heat. Utilizing the stock intake boxes, expect a 10-15whp gain with 70mph airflow. RPi's Ram Air systems have been dyno proven as well as track proven and come with a 30-day money back guarantee. Ram Air Intake Kits include a high performance BMC air filter."

pretty much if you look through the kidney grills in the front, toward the side at a 90 degree angle on both side of your M5 youll see an outlet/tunnel and they lead directly into the stock air boxes. instead of having whatever amount of air that goes through the kidney grills that finds its way to those outlets, the scoop directs about almost 1/2 of the air going through each kidney grill into those outlets on the M5 right into the air boxes. the BMC air filters allow more air to travel more freely compared to the stock paper filters.

Best bang for your buck, Jon. I would also suggest doing the RPI Pulleys too. They're fairly cheap and make a very noticeable difference.
  1. Scoops
  2. Block-Off Plates
  3. BMC Filters
  4. Pulleys

You will notice a significant difference in the car immediately!

RPI scoops, fitlers, block off plates and pulleys are a must for a M5. I was just at RPI on the 22nd and they were performing a dyno on a '06 M5 with the exact mods mentioned. The dyno came out at 490.5 HP to the wheel!
