I feel the need....... The need for speed. creating this thread has been informative and depressing at the same time my m54 engine is still a baby with only 60k on it I plan on keeping it for while. But I gotta do something to make it faster without breaking the bank. I plan on doing the ess tune rpi scoop and exhaust but 30 HP gain isn't enough it won't cut it in todays age. the headers idea sounds good but literally sounds too loud for me. I wish I could add this magic chip jb4 or bms powerbox I'm so jealous of the rest of you. These young punks on these ny streets have no respect for German engineering with their ricers blowing past me LOL.

I think you're looking at it the wrong way, 30HP may not sound like that much, but remember with the tune it will change when and where that power is applied - which can make a HUGE difference. The problem with the "ricers" you mention (I know I raced an Accord with 360 WHP) is that their power is ONLY really available in the upper 500 RPM of the range, so your car having gobs of torque and power in the lower and mid range will make a big difference. Not to mention the benefits of a flatter torque curve overall. These cannot be achieved by the 4 bangers, they simply do not put out enough torque.

Hmmm...The BMS PowerBox page still shows this:
The BMS Power Box was specifically designed for the N51 / N52 / N53
2.5L & 3.0L motors. Including xi vehicles.
I've never heard of the BMS PBX on an M54.
