Are there any good brake pads out there to fit the 535d which are not BMW orginal equipment?

Also whilst I remember, is it normal for the brake peddle to have some lateral movement? I can move the peddle side-to-side by a centimeter or so, just feels bushes are worn/loose etc

What is your objective for changing pads ?

If it's perfomance, I changed to Redstuff and had a mild improvement in braking power at midrange speeds (100mph) but my brakes still faded at high speed. The fact that I'm soon upgrading to M5 brakes says it all.

Pagid and axxis are said to be good with reduced brake dust, but from my research stopping power from high speed is not improved either plus some pads have medium to poor performance when still cold. The Redstuff are OK with respect to this though..

I have no such lateral movement on my brake pedal that you're experiencing.

Hi,

I'm after decent brake pads that are cheaper than BMW prices (not difficult), for when mine need replacing. If they're better, then all good.

Hmm, I think I'll ask the dealer about the brake pad under arranty.

Cheers

I would take the car in and have the brakes checked out. I'd suggest staying with OEM parts though. If you buy them online the parts will be cheaper than the dealers. You can always get cheaper parts but the performance might be affected.

If you end-up with aftermarket, consider PBR/Axxis Ultimate

Axxis provide great performance and significantly lower levels of dust (Virtually non existent)

Axxis ultimates are quality pads, but I'd say that OEM are better pads all-around, other than dust.
