My Ride: BMW 535D Invididual, Hartge, M-Sport
Bought new DVD Roadmaps for Europe, 2010.
I have read somewhere that it updates the I-drive.
Does it unlock any new features or does it really do anything or do I just have new maps?

The NAV DVD does NOTHING to "update" the BMW Professional Navigation System itself. It provides new roads, POIs, etc etc and some minor changes in graphic presentation, etc.

Next: 1999 e36 Z3c 2.8, SN 00002, 5spd
First: 1988 e30 M3, "M Monster" track-day car, 3.2L s52 conversion, roll cage, wicked suspension, Quaiffe ATB diff, 3.46 gears, 285hp @ crank, 2700lbs....not slow.
FYI, one can download the .iso fies (2 discs in the 2010.1 NAmer update) via torrent or usenet and burn them to a DVD +R.
I just did this today for my '06 e61 and it worked fine...should work in any pre-2009 "Professional" DVD-based iDrive nav system (the one with both a CD and a DVD in the center dash area)
