I have a 06 M5 and wanted to get the BMW iPod interface kit as I am getting a deal on it.

I wanted to know if this is a straight plug n play or would I need the dealer to program the interface? I did a search and found multiple threads but confused as some say its straight plugnplay and some say the dealer needs to program.

I should mention that the car has a Cd changer plays Mp3.

If your car is already wired for the CD changer then it should be just plug-n-play. Make sure you are getting the right part. Hopefully someone else will chime in to confirm.

Did you have Nav? I also have 2006, 530I with MP3 player and CD changer (no Nav)... but not sure which way to go for the iPod integration... one dealer told me I can use a wire that is for 95 bucks, other gave another part number for 350
Also, how much did the coding cost?
Thanks.

anyone have a part number for that iPod integration kit? I just picked up a 2006 530i with nav and 6 disc changer. I wanted to install the integration for the iPod too.

Welcome to the club .. same problem as mine, only mine is without nav...
Talked to two dealers, and they both gave me two different part numbers ...
And coding... not still sure.
There is not enough help out there for E60... E46, there were so many people who had knowledge

If you have the widescreen nav on a pre LCI, and you take the CD changer out and replace with dension or similar then it should be plug and play, but for cars with no nav or the MASK nav, which is the half screen nav the car will more than likely need coding.

This is what I have ordered and was told is for E60s: BMW Part No. 65 11 0 439 425

Hopefully its just plug'n'play. I read that if M5's cars play Mp3 then its the newest software on the vehicle and it should just work but if not then will need to program. There are so many opinions on this and I don't think there is a definite answer. I will let you guys know how it goes.

Well BMW Part No. 65 11 0 439 425 worked fine and install was easy. Sounds better than the stock AUX btw.

Now just gotta figure out how to use it. Seems like you have to make playlists on iTunes to have proper folders.

Anyone know if the iPod kit is compatible?
