+1 ... This is only for LCI (2008+) model w/ 6FL (US option ... as the OP already stated.

My thought exactly. OEM or not, it's a wire. If it works, then that's all you need.

Great job OP for sharing the info and saving yourself some serious cash.

What interests me the most is that it charges the device whereas my oem cable does not.

Hi, New to this forum and got my 528 2008 this week (out of warranty). It does not have CD changer, but regular CD wich can play MP3 just fine. Got very dissapointed it didn't bring the USB/3.5 Adapater, it however has the AUX conector behind the center console.
So what are my options, really confuse with others posts say and not sure what needs to be done in order to handle my 4gen using Idrive. Really don't care if I have to leave on the glove comparment. Please help me understand....

I know it's really confusing because not all our cars come with the same options. I have the same situation as you... just the single CD slot and the Aux minijack port behind the center console.

From my understanding, as is, the only option we have is to use our car's speakers to hear the audio from our iP___ device, and to control selection from the device, not the iDrive controller. To do that, you need to invest $400+ in something like the Dension Gateway 500, which emulates a CD changer, so the iDrive and steering wheel controls will work. It sucks, but that's what you'll have to do.

OK, Now my question is, it seems they are different kits available for my car.
For example this one:

http://www.bmwpartscounter.com/produ...110035964.html

So if buy it would need to take the car to the dealer to coding and will only be able to use ipods till the 3rd gen, right? Please help.

Not sure. You might want to do some research here: http://wwww.bimmerfest.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=154839

They're calling it the "Ultimate iPod Info Thread".

Good luck!
