Looking at the pics from Iceman, my opinion is the black grille takes $10,000 off the apparent price of the car. It makes a statement, but the wrong one - IMHO.

hmmm...does it equal to ---> "it looks cheap!"

I think You should go for the Black grill. It will looks nice with your car!

Each car color has its unique look and sometimes you have to do small modifications to get it at its Best.

I think it all comes down to each persons opinion of chrome. There are people that love chrome so much that the amount of chrome that comes on car is never enough, they often get the wheels chromed, and if possible add more chrome trim to the car. I guess most people believe that chrome makes the car more "elegant". There are also people like me who like very little or no chrome on the car. I prefer black or matte chrome/matte aluminum to regular shiny chrome. Back in the early eighties when BMW had no such thing as a "Shadowline" trim I used some chrome blackout to get rid of the chrome around the windows of my E30. The very first thing that I did right after I picked up my 95 M3 in Munich was to drive to D&W and buy the black grill kit for the car.

IMO another classic example of black looking better than chrome is the Shadowline trim on the E60. I think that the Shadowline trim around the windows makes a HUGE difference. On all E60 colors (both light and dark) it makes the car look SO MUCH better and more modern then with the chrome trim (IMO).

So I guess by now you should know that I would HIGHLY recommend getting your chrome grill painted black. I will be doing the same thing with my upcoming 545i. Although I may try to "brush" or "sandblast" the chrome and see how that looks, and then if I don't like it I will paint it black.

I'd black out the surround and just keep the center chrome.
