Hi Everyone,

I want to put aftermarket wheels, on my 525xi. What is the the biggest wheels that I will be able to fit. I was looking into getting 19" rims. I know the offset are different on the xi from the non xi models. Is there anyone on this forum who has an xi model and put 19" rims or bigger on their car. If you did, does your wheel rub at all?

I'm sure you can put 22-23' in your 525xi if you want THE BIGGEST. You just need the correct offsets to accommodate the wheels.

Maybe XI models can take 22inch easier because of their higher ET front rear...

Without doing custom wheels, the biggest you can go are 18's. You CAN NOT do 3 series wheels on the xi, regardless of what anyone tells you. An ET35 offset will NOT work.

Member BAMBI is the only member on the forum with an xi that has 19" wheels, but he had custom wheels made by HRE with the correct offsets. If you're willing to pay $5K-$7K for custom 19" wheels, then this is your best bet. Outside of that, 18" OEM wheels (123, 124 and 135) are your only choices. Keep in mind our offsets are ET43 for the front and rear or if you wish to go staggered, the rear has to be an offset of ET55. This is a BIG difference between the stock models.

1000% sure. If you don't believe me, see for yourself. Check out the offset on the 124 style rear wheels.

Note the rear wheel of 9x18. Offset is ET55.

Trust me, I'm a pro when it comes to wheels for the xi. I've done extensive research on my options.

idk if u did enough research cause i know a E60 xi with 20" the only thing with xi's is you can't go staggerd. His wheels are 3pc forged wheels and they are done with the correct offset

from what i know 20's r the biggest you can go on a xi model offset should be about a 40 up front and if you want to go staggered you can, the offset should be no less than 45. a 3 series wheel may work but keep in mind you will still have to have the wheels shaven down about 5-7 mm front and back so u can achieve the right offset no more than 5-7 mm because u start to lose the structual integrity of the rims. unfortunatly there is not to much of a demand in wheels with that offset and bolt pattern combo, not unless you go 2 or 3 piece wheels which gets kinda pricey. on the staggered part the tires have to match up exactly the same height after mounting them on the rims other wise you awd system will start to flip because the height is off. hopefully all of our responses help u out. good luck

not from what I've heard, the wheels being staggerd messes up the all wheel drive every Xi model i've see hasn't had a staggered setup..

thats why the tires have to measure the "exact" same height after mounting the tires onto the rims because tires sometimes stretch after mounting. thats with any awd vehicle no mater what.
