Yikes! First it was Hella forward lights, then mud flaps and now a bike rack.
I sympathize with you folks who need to do stuff like that but I would never mess up the beauty of my E60 like that.
I?d sooner buy an old Chevy pick up to tote my bike ... if I had a bike.

My Ride: 07 BMW 525i Premium Package, Xenon Lighting Package, manual Transmission. Titanium Grey, 20% Tint around the back, 70% V-Kool on front.
Planned mods: Style 71 wheels with Toyo Proxy 4 tires, Sachs suspension upgrade, upgraded stereo, and many more to come.
have anyone used a saris bone bike rack for the trunk mount?
i don't ride that often so i prefer something that is easily removable
i guess our trunk is decent size so removing two wheels would fit...

Nice bike.
For that much money you could just about trade in the 550 for a used M5!
Do you have the fold-down rear seats ... could it fit in that way?

I purchased a Saris Bones rack for the ease of taking it off and on. I have used it 4 times and will be selling it because it scratches the clear coat. While the rack has soft rubber feet on the four legs that sit on the deck lid and rear bumper, the vibration from driving with bikes on it, does a number on the finish. Nothing that a good wax job can't fix, but a too much for me to continue to use it.
I was hoping for a roof system similar to one I saw on an E46, but now understand we can't get built in mounts in the rain gutters of an E60. I hesitate to have anything touch my finish now and will likely use my wife's car to transport our bikes.
