Hello, I am hoping to get some assistance for forum members on obtaining better brakes for my 04 525i.
You just need a normal brake service with new pads and disks (at least front) with new OEM sensors.

They are more than good enough.

just want to change the rotors. is there a significant difference between the 525 and the 530 rotors? I am guessing I would have to get new calipers and larger rotors, that is not the route I wanted to go however, it the cost is not too expensive, I will consider it.

I have, matter of fact, I ordered a rear set for a friend's 94 540 from that site, last week. They had options for rotors for the older cars but not for mine.

If I read this correctly, I may also need to get bigger wheels if I upgrade the calipers and rotors to a larger size? This is good info to have for an upgrade path! I am guessing these are prices for BMW parts not aftermarket? The brakes on the car that will need to be replaced soon are the ones on the rear, the fronts cause some vibration and rubbing sounds, I would prefer not to have the same type and possible warp them again. Slotted or cross drilled are not an absolute must unless they are better performers. I mentioned Brembos as I have had good luck with them in the past and those things have never warped on me (street driving). Would love better performing brakes with the same setup but if need to go up a size, I would consider that as an alternative if better products are not available for the stock sizes.

I have 545/550i calipers for sale, you need pads, rotors, maybe a sensor, maybe some ss lines and a brake flush.

Go M5 brakes route... I upgraded my brakes to M5 ones and am very happy with the looks and of course, stopping power!!!

However, as discussed earlier, you will need at least 19" rims for the brakes to fit.
