If your sig is correct and you have a 2005 530 or 525 you do, in fact, have an M54 engine - same as me.

Granted you should always try to check the gap, but it's nearly impossible on the Bosch Platinum +4's they have the 4 prongs on them and there really is no way, short of destroying them, to check the gap. They tell you the gap is preset from the factory.

Also, keep in mind that with Platinum and iridium plugs you need the special tool to check the gap, the old blade type can easily damage the core and ruin your plugs.

I just ordered 6 NGK Laser Iridium ( ILZFR6D11) off of eBay for $69.99 I dis research and think the Ngk's are best for the car right now. Plus Ive used them on prior cars and theyve been great.

I have a 2005 I6 2.2L 520i and after reading this thread, I got even more confused.

How do I check the gap. Which type of Spark plugs should i go for?

I'm confused too. I notice some plugs have 4 prongs and some don't. Assuming I go to realoem.com and check for part number with the last 7 digits of my VIN, would this be the correct plugs? Also, I thought NGK plugs come pre-gap so if the gap is not correct, how do I adjust it?

Thanks guys.
