I just hit a very bad pot hole todat with the left front wheel....
but it was not at high speed, just like 40km/h.....

the BANG noise I've hear was probably not the wheel but the shock/axle components how they got pushed to their max probably....

what is the best way to find out if there is a problem with the wheel?????

visual check seems OK.
driving on nice and smooth road is smooth and fine at all speed.... no pulling sideways, no bouncing either.....

any more ideas?

I'll be switching to the new summer wheel set up in two weeks so I will get the car alignment and geometry done
Peter from what you say then almost 100% the wheel is fine. The only thing that might appear is a tire defromation...dunno how it is called. But that appears also after the shock but just slightly and it's most of the time hard to spot especially if it's on the inside. That deformation grows bigger and bigger within a few days...but i suspect you already know that. If visual it's ok and no driving difference after the incident then i can't see what else could be wrong with the wheel. With the rest of the suspension...may be...who knows what could have cracked slightly. But don't worry i've hit several times big pot wholes, and 2 times i hit the same freaking potwhole when i used to race on one og the main roads here. And i hit it hard on braking with the right wheel. First time i simply wasn't aware, 2nd time i was aware but i braked too hard (at max) from speeds up to 180-200km/h and if i tryed smth to avoid it i might have destabilised the car and more i would have missed the upcomming 90 degree right turn. Tire was ok, rim seems ok also. No driving weirdness whatsoever although when i hit it it seemed like the whole dashboard would come apart. The suspension, as you said, seemed to have worked at max and suffered a huge shock.
And in the end: i thought car alignment and car geometry are the same thing! No?

6 months ago I hit a transition on interstate @ 65mph..... problem was the transition was wrong and they left the height difference of 3 inches on highway. It was like hitting a curb head on. Long story short, the sh*tty road construction ended up costing me 5 aftermarket wheels and all 4 tires within 12 days....(ended up having 2 incidents). They were all bent badly.... not worth repairing. Most people don't understand that when a wheel is badly bent, it can't be repaired completely 100% back to normal. A wheel repairshop I have used over the years is very honest with me and the guy told me to just go for a new look and toss the wheels...... If it's a cosmetic problem then yah... I would say fix the wheel. If it's a structural issue then I would say toss it, otherwise you will have vibrations etc... pita really. hth.

Granted, I didn't look very hard, but I didn't see anything close to that bend shown a couple posts above. I just quickly looked them over and didn't see anything major or even minor. I'll clean them up and see if I can find the bends. If so, I'll post a pic and then see what a quote from a tire/wheel shop will be to fix.

Thanks!
