You're right, you can't upgrade to 166 wheels and not dropping the car. Enjoy your mod.

My Ride: I have an 05 545i. It's a manual with a few options. This is my first BMW but I don't know how I'll ever be able to switch to something else.

You'll get a little bit of drop once they've broken in, usually within 500 miles or so. I used to run h&r sports with some kyb strut/shock combo on my integra back in the day, very nice ride and good drop

QUESTION ON SHOCKS:

For those in the know, for the E60-- are we supposed to use Koni 1150, Koni FSD, or Koni 1130?

Mine's a 520d LCI....

The H&R Sport springs apparently drop the car 1.4" in the front and 1.3" in the rear if you're non-sport. If you already have sport suspension it'll drop you .5" all-around. Which means, this drop is lower than a stock sports BMW suspension by 1/2". It might be because these pics are taken on the same day they were installed and it hasn't completely settled yet.

But, just to show you how close the tire is to the top of the fender in the rear.... I hope it doesn't settle much more!!!!! Remember, the rims I have are M6 Off-set, so they sit out wider than a stock M5 would:

The gap is something like 3/4" only. The ONLY REASON I DON'T RUB IS BECAUSE OF THE KONI SHOCKS. If I chose to just install H&R springs and call it a day, my ride would be bouncy as hell and I would rub that fender every bump. The new sport shocks prevent rapid up & down movement on bumps and I can tell the difference.

And today I finally dropped it. Thanks David, (E60 forum member) who provided the Koni sport suspension, Eurogarage for the H&R Sport Springs, A&L Auto Body in Palatine, IL. (ask for Anthony), for the awesome service and installation, and Trinity for more solid advice than you can imagine. I'm ALMOST done!

Hopefully these H&R springs settle a little bit after today. I realize they are cold-rolled and probably won't settle because of higher quality, but one can hope. Regardless, I'm quite happy with the drop compared to what it was. To me, its a difference between night and day. Besides the asthetic improvement, the car handles amazingly well with the new shocks/struts/springs. Its literally a different car. Thank you E60.net!

Euro sticker install (got em in the mail yesterday)
M-Tech front / Sides
Shadowline trim
I like the look of things!! Have to agree I take my ride to Anthony @ P&L autobody as well. He does some great work!! Did not know we had local 5 members in Chicago.

Yes, I went with H&R because it was slightly lower of a drop than Eibach. As you can see, my car doesn't look like it needs to be "raised" any further. The Eibach pro kit is pretty much close to stock sport springs but I didn't want an even drop on both the front and rear as the Eibach provides. I wanted that 1.4" front and 1.3" rear for a "raked" look. It'll be more visible after 500 miles or a month as others have said when the springs settle a bit.
