I'm new to this forum, and would like to thank all of you for your posts regarding iPod integration. It's pretty obvious that there is no dedicated integration with iDrive... but the AUX input will do just fine... for now!
With the info obtained here on the e60 forum, I was able to show my BMW dealer's parts manager the required EBA-nr. and the retrofit kit number... he then pulled it up on screen and ordered the part for me! He was VERY thankful that I helped him out, as he'd been asked many times by customers if this was possible (not only is this an option in our e60's, but this kit works for the new 6-Series as well!)
Cheers, and THANKS again!
Sean

That's why the most of us here are looking at the AUX-Input install.

It should work great, as the e60 has a 12V port available directly underneath the glove box for charging (the AUX input connector is in the glove box)... and for the audio connection, both ends are 3.5mm stereo jacks. Since the audio out comes straight from the dock connector's LINE OUT, and not the headphone out on the iPod, the audio quality will be as clean as is possible.
I posted this in the other thread too.... It's a little more expensive but the jack for the audio out is right on the part that plugs into the power outlet. So alot fewer wires and alot cleaner look. Just my 2 cents.....
ULtraPLanet, That is what I have, and they will be installing the Aux. Input next to the Power outlet, so I have a short run to the Aux Output.
