AUX Input works with nav. You get traffic announcements and nav instructions. It is just like it would be a CD.

BMW of Dallas(formerly John Roberts) fixed my aux input yesterday and delivered the vehicle to me at work. It sounds great. I think they had a loose or miswired connection. Not unexpected given that most of these dealerships lack experience with this part since it is so new. I'm a happy customer now.

Took my 545 into Bill Jacobs BMW in Naperville, IL for a software recall (dealer said they installed version 13.3) and Aux Input install. Originally they said the adapter wasn't available until I took the instructions and part number that I down loaded from this site in and showed them.

They had the car for two days and waited until 3:00pm on the second day to try and install the Aux Adapter. When I called to see how everything was proceeding, they said that the computer recognized the adapter, but that they couldn't get any signal from my mp3 player. I picked my car up (got really tired of driving the loaner Buick) and said that I'd be back if the computer failed to recognize and play the Aux line in.

I reset my computer and still no signal. Very frustrating.

I can't believe that they went to all that trouble to install version 13.3 when version 15 is out and that they can't install a simple accessory. All of this for $250 out of my wallet. :'(

Will this part #82 11 0 149 389 work with the early 2002 "non-satellite ready" radios?

I just ordered one of the retrokits today from a Richmond, VA dealer. The kits were in the warehouse and will be in in one day. The dealer is reprogramming my new 05 525 anyway and is goign to turn on the aux input. I will let all know how it turs out.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I picked up my car today from the Richmond, Virginia BMW Dealer ship. THey installed the aux adapter after i provided the part number from the forum. They received the part in 2 days. and spent 4 hours installing. It works flawlessly in my 05 525i with NAV. They tried to charge me $400 for the part and the install. I found a special on their website (WWW.Richmondbmw.com), then selctected parts and then specials. The price last week up until yesterday was $135 for the part and installion. They were not even aware it was on their site. They have since changed the cost to $235. Still not a bad deal. I plan on using this for my nav with tv install. It was installed inside the glove box. The part cost without install was $76.00. Go get it one and all. Much better than FM modulation.
