So I have the most up to date software on my car and wanted to install the Aux kit. I was quoted $800 for the part and install, I thought this was really high. I asked for a breakdown of the costs and was givin the following information. Are they trying to rip me off, $150 for an install kit, wtf is that?

$200.00-programing, $136.00-part, $150.00-install kit, $330.00-removal of components to gain access to install part,

Looks interesting but over my head! I'm guessing you wire this up to a female mini jack input?

Even though those prices are in Loonies, it's still way - way - over priced. The AUX connector from the dealer should be about $70 USD.

The software update is tricky. If you have a really old version, it can take MANY hours to update (mine took 10 hours). Depending on the software version - it might be a free update. If not, it shouldn't be more than an hour of labor.

just get the oem idrive feature, not the aux. Install with the actual part only took ten minutes. I only paid $200 for the programming.

Are you talking about he OEM IPOD adapter? Thats not what I am looking for, I just want to be able to plug the aux into a headphone jack on any media player. My car currently does not have the input.

Correct, you just want the AUX input. Ask you dealer for retrofit kit '65 12 0 153 502' - you can do your own install (it is pretty easy) and then get the retrofit programming completed.

I just picked mine up from the dealer today. 10 hours of updates, an hour of labor for the retrofit programming, and the AUX works and sounds perfect!
