That's pure BS!
A couple dealers said the same, some others said the part is on a recall.

It's simply not true!

This kit is readily available in Canada... I just brought one in for a customer the other day.

I just had mine done earlier this week. On the 1st try the tech didn't wire it correctly so I had to take it back. But it works fine now and I can cycle to it using the next entertainment source button I have programmed into the steering wheel.

Ordered my Aux Input hardware about three weeks ago for install prior to delivery. Used the PDF found in this forum. No squaks from dealer in advance, but the service department was surprised by the amount of work involved (solid 1.5 hours). Probably their first one, and they hadn't bothered to read the bulletin prior to actually having to do what I had asked. However, all went well, and car was delivered with Aux input installed, set up in idrive and works just fine. In this regard the 6er is identical to the 5 series.

Cannot give precise cost on parts and install as it was combined with a snap-in adapter for the Motorola v551 for a total of a nice round $300.

My dealer is Imported Car Store of Melbourne, Florida

I am told by my dealer that the problem is Nav. Is there someone who has nav who has successfully had the Aux Input installed?

Anyone in the U.S.? My dealer (BMW of Manhattan) insists that there is a conflict between the aux input and Nav...they won't work together with the iDrive. He says that that is the official word from BMW of NA.

I updated my signature so you can see that I do have NAV. Everything works as claimed. There is absolutely no conflict with NAV. The install kit instructions located elsewhere in this forum clearly do not exclude any E60, E61, E63 or E64 configurations, MY, or anything else. You just have one of the many uninformed and apparently uncaring dealerships. I saw uncaring as they do not appear to want to get up to date with their product.
