I'm about to install an aux connector to my 05 E60.

I have been doing some research before I take apart my centre console etc.

Most of what I've read (including the official BMW retrofit instructions) indicate that pins 7, 2 and 8 are used for plug X13813. However, on the cable that I bought off eBay, it would appears that other pins are used. Please see attached picture.

Are these pins correct?

I don't want to go through the hassle of installing this and programming the car only to find out this is incorrect.

code the car first, the connect it so you know if it's right or not. On the cable I got, the pins were in the wrong place, and you couldn't remove them from the connector so I bought three pic contacts from bmw and soldered them to the wire the connector came with.

Plus, I had another connector in the multiblock for that had wires for other parts of the CCC so wouldn't have been able to install the connector anyway

 

i purchased the aux cable from roskinc for like 20ish bucks or so. he uses 7,8, and 2 as well. i know people that have used those before said that once you finish installing you'll notice a loss of bass in your car, which indicates a correct installation. after that, you must code the aux in to get everything back to normal

I'm currently researching how to code aux. i got a cable from eBay, but the software isn't installing, so I'm holding back on installing the actual cable first

I have the aux cable ordered from HK off eBay for $9 incl shipping to Canada, will let you know how decent Quality is is but for that price I thought it was worth the risk.
Car coded yesterday and is ready...

I have used a soldering iron for over 30 yrs and have plenty of wire on hand for the job, just needed that block connector and assoc. pins so Worst case, just redo it for length or poor quality if needed.

 

the trouble is the pins they use aren't genuine (wasn't in the one I received) and you can't remove them from their block connector and insert them in your OEM one. I had to go to the dealer and buy the pins - the good news is that they come with a foot of wire too so you can solder than to the AUX cable you receive.

They were like £2 each

 

I got the aux cable from roskinc for 26 bucks. Followed his video instructions and installed it myself. Got the car coded for 30 bucks and sounds really nice. No regrets

 

Just did the aux in coding today.now I have the aux in my idrive. Thanks roskinc. Your coding instructions were AWESOME. I'm planning todo this mod with the Bluetooth module. Should get the parts installed sometime next week when they arrive. It would be awesome to go wireless. Hope it will work.
