I bought the exact same unit from the same place and I have a similar type of navtv unit as the one being offered on this thread, so to answer your question, yes it will work.
You can even compliment your system with this digital TV tuner which I did.

Nowaways, I don't mind taking wifey to the store and waiting for her in the car

can i hook this up with your unit? this has an aux source so if anyone is thinking of adding an aux output this might be a cheaper way to go if this is compatible, $99.99 shipped

Which dealers did you call? I got mine done for $150 or so. I remember they tried to charge me more but I told them I learned from this forum that the part itself is like $75 and programming time is only like half an hour so they charged me $150. I can call my SA at Stevens Creek BMW for you if you want.

Can you control and/or play your ipod via idrive and/or through your stock stereo system?
And interface kit will work with ~2008 (1st gen iDrive) and 2009~ (2nd gen iDrive), not just 2008 and 2009

Yes it is controllable via idrive. I believe it uses the fiber optic cable plus a power source

That system uses RCA cables + it requires a power tap. Does your interface have RCA outputs?
He is referring to this ipod installation: https://5series.net/forums/index.php?showto...iber+optic+ipod

Not sure how that system will be connected to your stock stereo system and provide aux input,
but if that system can be connected to stock stereo and provide aux input, then yes, you can still have my module and back up camera installed.
What did you mean you already have ipod?
