Anyone else having problems with Bruce'S cables
In europe, if you buy something from someone privately, teh person is not obliged to give you any warranty whatsoever - this is the EU ruling. The fact that Bruce took his LCI cables to such a professional level does not make him a company. Not even the German vendor that sells the combo lights+cables for a ridiclous price offers a longer warranty than the 6 months which is usual practice in europe.
btw - our BMWs in europe have 6 months warranty and an additional 18 months on parts that are proved to have been defective at the time of delivery. According to law thhe proof has to be brought forward by the customer - however, BMW is generous enough and assumes if something goes wrong in the first 24 months, it was already defect when built!

I am still trying to help aresh with this issue and providing him possible solutions of trying to fix the issue himself. I am even suggesting buying a single side (at cost), even though this causes me to be left with unpaired sets. But if a free replacement after 12 months is what is being sought then unfortunately I am not able to.
If there are others who are having problems with the V6 cables please contact me and I will try and help were possible.

You can always switch to hella if you want.

As for the warranty...I mean, if your cars transmission goes out 6 months after warranty, do you want someone to foot the bill? YES! but you cant expect BMW to do so. All you can do is ask nicely and take what you get in goodwill. Sometimes they'll replace, sometimes they'll share the costs, whatever it is, its less than a full replacement. Getting them at cost when you're out of warranty sounds like a pretty good deal.
If he says yes to a replacement for you, who knows how many pm's this guy will get saying "my cables are broken too and I'm out of warranty, can I get a replacement?"
I think you should take what you can get man and stop being sore about it. I know it sucks because they are pricey and at the end of the day, they are just cables, but it will only leave a bad taste in your mouth.

If someone is able to produce these for me for $20-40 I'll buy these from them, seriously. Many people think these things are cheap to produce, but they are not. Take one apart, price it up and you will see for yourself that there is not a lot of money to be had once you've taken everything into account. There would be a lot more 'copycats' on the market should it have been that cheap to make.
Anyway.
I am still in discussion with Aresh and am trying to help as best, this thread has not stopped me doing that. He was not my first V6 customer (the V6 design was around for almost a year before he bought his set) but is the first to report a problem and I guess that makes him very unhappy, I can understand that.
The cost of shipping this backwards and forwards from the US is probably the biggest contributor towards the costs. If Aresh has a friend in the US who is handy with electronics I can help with showing what might be going wrong.
As mentioned you can buy just one side from me if that helps you get to a working set. I have always provided my previous customers a massive discount off retail when they come back for a new set.
P.S. : Please don't buy the so-called Hella kit. Its not made by Hella and you will not be happy with what you receive.

P.S. - Bruce, your cables are awesome. They have transformed my car from old school to hot and sexy!

Now quick, come up with a solution for plug/play LCI front headlights!

Lets keep this thread to helping Aresh out.
But as for that Hella kit. Firstly its not made by Hella. It's made by someone in Taiwan who ripped apart one of my early versions of the kits and copied it. Its sold as a DIY cable where in you have you put individual wires into your car's harness because that guy has not been able to source the correct plugs. But lastly it does not give you the LCI look on the car, all it does it cancels the errors and the LEDs still strobe.
See https://5series.net/forums/topic/101...st__p__1217521
There have been too many people who have bought that Hella kit and then spent more money to buy my set. I don't want Aresh to be even more upset than he is already.

No dis-respect either but the most expensive parts were the Cable w/Plugs part no. 61120432110 @ $28.00, the thermal compound @$10.03 & muratic acid @ $7.98... and which can be used more than once, and the case @ $6.00... SMH...
If you are making your cables at more cost then these then perhaps it's time to re-design the circuit to make it more cost effective...

Funny you say that... your cables don't look half as complicated as the ones that were designed by mja and the parts only totaled $107.15... and they work!!

While you may be correct about the cost of the parts there is more to the cost of an item than parts alone.
Even if Bruce does make $200 or $250 a set of cables he has every right. I don't see any other competing Companies or people making these cables that actually work, and in bulk, so he has the market cornered. If they were so easy to make effectively a Chinese Company would have made them in bulk by now.
Since you are knowledgable about the cable construction and assembling them, why don't you make them for the members here? Since they only cost $107 to make, maybe you can charge $150 shipped to USA customers. Going by the logic you present here, this is reasonable
