It won't be hard to install it yourself.

+1, I am interested. I may be able to get my cousin in Foster City to volunteer her 2008 535i, but she can't install it, you would have to do it for me. PM me if interested.

Here is an update guys.

Today I installed my kit on 2006 530i with an older iDrive. Everything works perfect and fits very well. Here are some pictures.

Kits for both New and Old iDrive systems are in stock and ready to be shipped.

PM me for more info. DIY guide will be available in a few days to help you with the installation.

Thanks.

Hello,

No, you don't have to have PDC as far as I know. I will be installing another kit on the car without PDC, and I'll get back to you with the answer to this questions. With BMW you never know until you check

I want to shout-out for a BIG thank you to doba. that is my car in the pictures. He has been very-very help full in every aspect of the install including answering all the questions to my satisfaction before the install. he came to my work place (which is only few miles form his place) to do the install. Everything is working perfectly.

Not only the backup camera works perfectly. I can view the backup camera while i'm driving normally (moving forward). I can watch videos from my iPhone (or ipod) and can still listen to the audio part normally, using my newly installed spec.dock (which he helped install as well). I can choose to view the video (or camera image) in the half screen or stretch it to the full screen, with a touch of button, as pictured below. I can choose this while driving. We have one more video input available, which I'm planning to use with yet to be installed, a car dvd player. I figure for another $70-$80 I can make the best use of this new unit by installing a dvd player and watch the dvds (of-course not me, but my passengers). I plan to do a small video of everything in motions soon, and will post to you-tube with a link here.

All in All I'm very happy with the final result. Again, a big thank you to doba, all your help is much appreciated.

Looks good. My 2006 Infiniti M45 Sport had a backup camera. My E60 does not. I really miss that feature. I think that it is really great both in terms of safety and ease of parking.
